2022 and 2023 Reading List

December 27, 2023

I started to document and publish my reading lists in 2018 (when I read 50 books!) as a way to keep me accountable – both for my curiosity and to make sure that I actually embody the words that I read. It’s easy to intellectualize books; but when we become activated by the words that pour off the pages with purity, we can gracefully evolve into who we’re meant to become.

Here are my reading lists over the previous four years:

• my reading list for 2021

• the 30 books I read in 2020

• the 11 books I read in 2019

• the 50 (yes, 50) books I read in 2018!!!

I didn’t publish a reading list in 2022…so here are my combined 2022 and 2023 reading lists:

  1. Word Magic: The Powers and Occult Definitions of Words (Second Edition)
  2. The Wizard and the Prophet: Two Remarkable Scientists and Their Dueling Visions to Shape Tomorrow’s World
  3. Existential Kink: Unmask Your Shadow and Embrace Your Power (Disclaimer: It was very helpful to read this book in 2022 but there is a very dark energy in this book that was helpful at the time I read it. But I did not take this energy with me into 2023).

  1. Breaking Open the Head: A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism by Daniel Pinchbeck  (Note: I interviewed Daniel Pinchbeck on Episode 77 of my podcast here).
  2. Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott
  3. The Queen’s Code by Alison Armstrong – I reread this from when I first read it back in 2017. I’m completely blown away by the difference in my perception reading it this time around.
  4. What Light Can Do: Essays on Art, Imagination, and the Natural World by Robert Hass
  5. Awakening the Heart by Reginald Ray. I’m going through the audiobook and it’s not for the faint of heart. It’s an embodied process into feeling all of the different chambers of the heart. Read or listen with extreme caution because it’s INTENSE!!
  6. Happy, Sexy Millionaire: Unexpected Truths about Fulfillment, Love and Success. Amazing book! Read this on a flight to Italy. Unexpectedly surprised that this was such a page turner.
  7. Love’s Revolution by Darren Austin Hall. I haven’t finished this one yet. But I’m a big fan of this writer’s work and his vision for the future of humanity.

I’m more in my body these days instead of intellectualizing concepts in my mind. So, I’m not judging or feeling like I should have read more books. I’m grateful that books don’t consume me anymore.  This is growth for me.

When you step away from the “intellect” and the technology and the algorithms and the way you “should live,” a more heart-centered life awaits.

I hope you have something to live for in the new year…something that keeps you going…
