A happy genius hero knows how to create content that’s evergreen yet emotional; logical yet expansive. A happy genius hero knows how to create content that can touch the masses without watering down its essence. A happy genius hero dances on the edge of a cliff (without any fear) to a song that no one else can hear.
A happy genius hero believes in a future that has not yet formed into existence.
Tears cascaded down my face as I listened to the song “Santa Clara” by The National on repeat while on a barefoot run on the beach:
I’m gonna run to the river, kiss my hand and wave
I’m gonna run to the river, gonna throw a blue bouquet
’Cause they’re gonna be cool, happy, genius heroes
I’m gonna miss ’em so much
The lyrics and the melancholy. The poetry and the baritone voice. Did I mention the utter desperation in the voice of the lead singer, Matt Berninger?
When I ran into Matt in Venice I wanted to thank him for being my therapist during a dark time. He helped me to transmute deep, intense emotions. But that just sounds weird when you say it out loud. Instead, we had a conversation about more “normal things” when you meet a rockstar for the first time. Look, here’s a picture to prove it:
I was slowly coming to the realization that actually feeling my emotions (not suppressing them) would allow for me to more easily let go. Music is one of many tools to help us to feel and transmute emotions.
Content with context is enlightenment. And when you repeat the same three words (e.g., “happy genius hero”), you’re creating a mini-enlightenment experience. You’re transforming perception and invigorating the full spectrum of human potential (and maybe even annoying a few folks that get triggered by repetition — and alarming the SEO bots that think your keyword stuffing).
Why do you want to be a happy genius hero in the first place?
I’m so glad you asked.
A happy genius hero isn’t some superficial “happy.” It’s the type of happy that’s on a path to true joy. It’s when you’ve learned to alchemize the lower states of emotion with the higher ones. And it begins when you transform heavy, undesirable emotional states into lighter, more uplifting vibrations. The good news is that you can do this (and become this) through the content that you create — through content marketing.
But why the repetition?
Repetition (with lyrics and words) is a rhetorical device. And it’s simultaneously transformative.
Repetition also happens in the “everyday” world with songs that have a repeating chorus that you can’t get out of your head (especially those holiday songs like Jingle Bells).
Repetition is used in the spiritual world with mantras and mala beads. A mantra is a word or sound repeated to aid concentration in meditation. Mala beads (also known as Buddhist prayer beads) are used for keeping count while mentally repeating a mantra. Both are tools to help enter a state of enlightenment.
Repetition helps us to transcend emotion and touch higher planes.
Now, I’m not describing “repetition” in the same way that you’d describe a habit or a boring routine. Repetition is a vibratory way of existing in the world.
Repetition sparks a chemical transmutation which allows us to go beyond the mind.
And going beyond the mind activates a heightened consciousness experience.
Music takes place in time, but repetition beguilingly makes it knowable in the way of something outside of time. It enables us to “look” at a passage as a whole, even while it’s progressing moment by moment. But this changed perspective brought by repetition doesn’t feel like holding a score and looking at a passage’s notation as it progresses. Rather, it feels like a different way of inhabiting a passage — a different kind of orientation.
– Elizabeth Hellmuth Margulis, Director of the Music Cognition Lab at the University of Arkansas
While current mainstream thought believes that consciousness is generated from the activity in the mind, newer research shows that this “belief” is just a belief and it’s all formed through the limiting lens of our minds.
In other words, going beyond the mind is crucial to understanding another dimension to our existence.
“The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence.” — Nicola Tesla
Tesla fixed things that weren’t broken (at the time).
And we’re on the cusp of a new paradigm of humanity. Things may not be “broken” in the logical sense. But the way that we currently understand reality is fundamentally flawed. The “logic” of our system is broken. And the path to get to the next paradigm of humanity is non-linear.
As Richard Rudd explains in Episode 35 of my podcast, humanity may be on the verge of a major shift in consciousness rooted in a new understanding of how our DNA operates — namely that it is programmed directly by the way we think and feel.
The crux of this new way of Being in the world is to not deny the negative emotions (spiritual bypassing) but rather experience it. It's a way to enter the emotion from a higher octave and neutralize the emotions so that we no longer operate in fear or worry:
I don’t worry anymore, nothing like I did before
I don’t worry, I just watch them rolling back
I don’t worry anymore
– Santa Clara, The National
It’s a lifting of the emotional state by a witnessing.
It doesn’t deny the pain. But rather it integrates our previous emotionally turbulent times.
So, witnessing is how we become happy and genius?
Yes. And this concept aligns with the heroic work of David Hawkins who says:
“Genius and creativity, then, are subjectively experienced as a witnessing. It is a phenomenon that bypasses the individual self, or ego. The capacity to finesse genius can be learned, though often only through painful surrender, when the phoenix of genius arises out of the ashes of despair after a fruitless struggle with the unsolvable. Out of defeat comes victory; out of failure, success; and out of humbling, true self-esteem.” — David R. Hawkins, Ph.D.
A happy genius hero realizes that logic and definitions are limiting. And that the path to enlightenment exists through the happy genius heroes of humanity.
